It does. Hard water leaves mineral film on glass, chrome and stainless, and on older fixtures it builds into a crust that ordinary spray will not remove. We use an acidic descaler worked in and buffed dry rather than rinsed, and we test in an inconspicuous spot first on vintage fixtures, because some older finishes and platings do not tolerate acid. On a first visit this usually needs an extra pass.
